To Avoid – Voyage into the past!
The album ‚Voyage Into The Past‘ may sound like a name for a best-of album where a band releases their crème de la crème on one same CD, but this is actually the opposite. This album is To Avoids debut album and contains 11 tracks of industrial EBM.
Strangely I have some trouble of getting a grip of this Leatherstrip/Severe Illusion inspired music that To Avoid stands for. Even though this kind of messed up sample based EBM is something I appreciate, it doesn’t stick and I desperately try to understand why.
Many of these tracks are of good quality, but I miss that special thing that makes songs stick out from the mass, the thing that makes a band extra good and a record extra interesting. Even though the songs „Feel It“, „Last Resort“, „Suicide“ and „Sowing The Seeds of Violence“ is a really cosy foreplay it doesn’t really turn you on and all you end up with is a cosy moment before you fall asleep by mistake.
